The idea behind Good Hair Day traces back to the British hair-styling company GHD, founded in 2001 in Leeds, England by entrepreneurs Martin Penny, Gary Douglas, and Robert Powls. GHD, you guessed it right, stands for Good Hair Day. The company became famous for professional hair straighteners and styling tools widely used in salons around the world.
Nearly two decades later, the brand launched Official Good Hair Day in 2020 as a global campaign encouraging people to celebrate hair, confidence, and self-care.
The timing in March is intentional. The month already celebrates empowerment through International Women’s Day on March 8, making it a fitting period to highlight self-confidence, individuality, and beauty in all forms.
