When did World Pharmacist Day Start

The International Pharmaceutical Federation founded World Pharmacist Day in 2009. They chose September 25 as the date for the observance because it is also the foundation date of International Pharmaceutical Federation in 2009.

It was celebrated for the first time in 2010 and ever since, World Pharmacist Day has been an important event to honor and educate people about the role of pharmacists.

History of Pharmacy

Pharmacy has existed since ancient times when people used herbs, minerals, and all kind of natural remedies to treat ailments.

Early civilizations such as Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, India, and Greece documented the use of herbs and healing methods, forming the foundation of pharmacy and medicine.

Pharmacy started emerging as a more specific field during the Middle Ages and

During the Middle Ages, pharmacy began to emerge as a more distinct field and in many places, practitioners improved the ways medicines were made and stored, and apothecaries or specialized shops became widespread.

During this time, the role of the pharmacist slowly began to separate from that of the physician.

Pharmacy began to take its modern form in the 18th and 19th centuries with advances in chemistry, standardized drug production, and formal education for pharmacists.

The Industrial Revolution introduced large-scale medicine manufacturing, stronger regulations, and recognition of pharmacy as a profession.

Over time, it developed into today’s scientific healthcare field, combining traditional practices with modern research and technology.

Honoring Pharmacist Day

Pharmacists play an essential role in the medical industry and without them, hospitals, clinics, etc. would not function.

On this day, we should recognize their contribution and express our admiration for them in any way possible.

Individuals can join the celebration by sharing messages of appreciation, spreading awareness on social media, or participating in community events that promote the responsible use of medicines.

Students and professionals in the field may also use this day to engage in discussions, workshops, and educational activities that strengthen knowledge and encourage innovation in pharmacy practice.
