History of World Speech Day
The Athens Democracy Forum launched World Speech Day in 2015 with the goal of encouraging people from different backgrounds and cultures to share a piece of their lives through speeches.
On March 15, 2016, the first observation of World Speech Day took place.
Different talking events were organized on that day across the world, including Moscow, Athens, Singapore, etc.
These events brought to light the power and impact of public speaking by bringing citizens of multiple cities across the world together.
By 2017, the observance became very popular, and over 80 countries started participating in it.
From classrooms to university buildings to parliament buildings, speeches were delivered in various places, and some were even livestreamed.
