Internet Day

Next Wednesday, 29 October 2025

On October 29, we celebrate Internet Day to mark one of the greatest inventions that transformed the history of existence-Internet.

This day acknowledges the evolution of digital connections and the immense impact it made on society while playing a pivotal role in shaping our daily life.

Background of Internet Day

Internet Day was first celebrated on October 29, 2005, to honor the historic moment when the first electronic message was transmitted through ARPANET.

This project, funded by the United States Department of Defense in 1969, laid the foundation for the modern internet.

On October 29 of that year, a message was sent between two computers at UCLA and Stanford.

Although the system crashed after just two letters: “LO” instead of the intended “LOGIN”, this milestone marked the beginning of digital communication.

In the decades that followed, developments such as the TCP/IP protocols in the 1970s and the launch of the World Wide Web in 1991 by Tim Berners-Lee transformed the internet from a military and research tool into a global system.

Today, it connects billions of people worldwide and has become an essential part of modern life.

Celebrating Internet Day

Internet Day is observed across the globe with different activities highlighting the importance of digital connectivity and literacy.

In this day and era, life without the internet is obsolete but too much of it can be harmful. So spread awareness about the safe utilization of internet and how it benefits our world.

Internet Day is more than just a commemoration, it is a celebration of human innovation and a call to action for responsible usage.

On this day we honor the past, acknowledge the present, and look toward the future of an interconnected world.

As technology continues to evolve, Internet Day reminds us that the power of connection rests in our hands.
